12 cruise ships to dock at Charlotteville

Trinidad Express / THE cruise ship Star Breeze made a call at the Charlotteville port, on Tobago’s northeastern tip, last Sunday.

The vessel carried 160 passengers, 40 short of its capacity of 200. It docked at around 7 a.m. and departed at 5 p.m. Captain Dimar Manrique, his Star Breeze crew and guests were welcomed to Tobago by tourism officials. The passengers toured parts of the island by taxi, while the ship’s chef purchased fresh fish from the fishing depot.

Secretary of Tourism and Transportation, Assemblyman Tracy Davidson-Celestine said 12 cruise ships will call at Charlotteville during the 2016/2017 cruise ship season.

She urged residents and entrepreneurs to capitalise on these opportunities.

“You have the perfect opportunity to earn an income while making sure that our visitors enjoy the best that Charlotteville and this side of Tobago has to offer,” Davidson-Celestine said. “You have a responsibility to ensure that they return and spread the word to others.”

The 2016/2017 Cruise ship season runs from November 2016 to April 2017.
