In court papers filed by members of the music group, Collage, Bruno Mars and Ronson have been accused of copying the “rhythm, harmony, melody and structure” of the worldwide hit from their 1983 single Young Girls . They claim Uptown Funk is “an obvious, strikingly and/or substantially similar copy” of their earlier work. The complaint has also noted the two stars talked about their influence of early 1980s Minneapolis electro-funk in interviews. Collage are seeking damages and profits from the single.
