RJR News / There is more concern about the security of sensitive documents in court cases.
RJR News sources revealed that a major probe is to be undertaken to determine how a case file ended up at the home of a man believed to be linked to a criminal matter before the courts.
The matter involves Okinni Smith,37 alias “Major Figga” and “Shak” who was shot dead last Thursday at the intersection of King and Brunswick Streets in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
During a follow-up investigation sources say detectives went to Smith’s house.
During a search, they reportedly found a case file which contained several key documents related to a case before a Parish Court.
The file contained copies of statements, including that from the police, eyewitnesses, as well as information for his bail application.
The sources said investigators were left baffled.
The documents were seized and the matter brought to the attention of senior members of the St. Catherine North Police Division.
Arrangements are underway for a high level probe into the matter.
