Trinidad Express / Chaguanas   MURDERED Chaguanas mother Sharlene Somai died as a result of suffocation. This was revealed in an autopsy done on her body yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park. A close male relative of 23-year-old Somai who had been assisting the police in their investigation was released on Thursday night. The Express attempted to find him at Somai’s family’s home in Petersfield Village, Felicity, Chaguanas, yesterday but was told he was not around. Somai lived with her husband, Suraj Toolsie, and their four-year-old son at her family’s home in Petersfield, Chaguanas. On Tuesday night around 8 o’clock, Somai told relatives she was visiting a nearby parlour to get a phone card. She never returned home. Her husband later told investigators he was at home when his wife went to the nearby parlour. Ten minutes later, he left with their son to go to the gas station. Toolsie said he returned home and put their son to bed, but his wife was not there. Somai’s cellphone was found on the floor in the porch, he said. Relatives said she had spent all evening preparing vegetables for the food outlet which she recently opened in Valsayn.
