Trinidad Express / NATIONAL coach Dennis Lawrence has urged the Trinidad and Tobago public to “get on board,“ after the senior national footballers won their first match in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, 1-0 over Panama on Friday night. Lawrence held court at the post-match press conference at the Hasely Crawford Stadium which Panama head coach Hernán Darío Gómez declined to attend. “Overall I have to be satisfied. We won the game 1-0,” stated the former national defender of his first competitive match in charge. “In regards to the performance it’s something I’ll analyse, but in terms of the result, I’m definitely happy about it.” He added: “What I asked the boys to do is to come out and let the people see a team that wanted to fight for the country,” Lawrence declared. “I think they did that well tonight. I’m pretty pleased with 90 per cent of the game as a whole. They tried to execute some of the things that I wanted.” However, he stressed that the focus is no longer on the Panama victory—T&T’s first in three matches—but on the next game on Tuesday.
