Jamaica Gleaner / A St Thomas police constable had to be rushed to hospital after he was chopped by a man while on patrol in the Bath community yesterday afternoon.
It is reported that about 3 o?clock yesterday afternoon, the constable and a colleague were patrolling in the Ginger Hall area when a man who was wanted by the Bath police was spotted.
The police say when the service vehicle came to a stop the man suddenly turned and swung a cutlass at the constable, chopping him on his hand.
The constable who was still in the service vehicle reportedly fired a shot in the direction of the man who escaped into a nearby ravine.
The injured policeman was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.
The police are seeking the assistance of the public in locating the man known only as ‘Urquhart’ of New Road in Bath.
