Trinidad Express / The sister of a senior superintendent of police attached to the Police Administration building in Port of Spain was shot and killed at her home on Sunday.

According to police, the victim, who has been identified as Theodora Ayers, 48, was shot by a lone gunman several times.

Police said Ayers opened the front gate of her driveway for her husband then proceeded to open the front door to her Mahogany Drive, North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande home when the gunman attacked.

Several loud explosions were heard and police said a witness saw the lone gunman fleeing the scene.

Ayers and her husband were returning from the Tamana Harvest.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m.

There has been no motive for the killing.

Ayers worked as a registered nurse.

She taken to the Sangre Grande District Hospital where she was pronounced died.

Cpl Mohammed of Homicide Region II is continuing with investigations.
