Trinidad Express / FOUR days after a seven year old girl was raped in Central Trinidad the main suspect in the case remains at home without being detained.
The Express was told that the suspect lives a short distance away from the victim.
Police officers assigned to the case are yet to bring the 20 year old man to the police station for questioning.
The incident occurred at around 1.20 p.m. Saturday when the child was attacked at her grandmother’s home.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the child in a bathroom.
The child’s grandmother heard the child scream and intervened.
The suspect ran out of the house and escaped.
A report was made to police and officers are searching for the suspect.
Officers of the Police Service’s Victims of Crime Support Unit are expected to meet with the child and relatives for counselling.
Officers of the Child Protection Unit are investigating.
