Trinidad Express / A CARENAGE man who allegedly broke a traffic light and collided with an oncoming car in Westmoorings died on Tuesday. 

Michael Bernard, 61, succumbed to injuries at hospital.

A 63 year old Westmoorings man driving the other vehicle was questioned by police.

At around 8.35 p.m. a black Audi driven by the Westmoorings man was proceeding south at the traffic light intersection of the Western Main Road.

The driver told police the traffic light was green and he was proceeding south when a white Nissan B14 driven by Bernard broke through the intersection and collided with the front of his vehicle. 

Bernard was taken to the St James Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

An autopsy is expected to be performed today at the Forensic Sciences Centre and ag Cpl Mohammed is continuing investigations.

Bernard’s death was the 84th road fatality for the year, according to an Express tally.
