Trinidad Express / Following the admission by Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, that he was forced to borrow money from local commercial banks in September to pay salaries of public servants, he is faced with a new problem of a reduced overdraft with the Central Bank.  Express Business estimates of the Government’s 2018 overdraft put the amount of money the Central Bank can advance to the Government this fiscal year at $6.723 billion, which is 24 per cent less than $8.864 billion overdraft that was theoretically available in 2016.
