RJR News / As the two main political parties continue to court voters in the hotly contested St. Mary South Eastern by-election, a prominent member of the governing Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has put voters in that constituency on notice that electing the candidate of the opposition People’s National Party (PNP) will result in them not receiving the level of government support that they require.

Everald Warmington, MP for St. Catherine South Western, speaking at a campaign rally on the weekend, declared that “it makes no sense… to elect a PNP Member of Parliament when you have a Jamaica Labour Party government!”

Elaborating, he asserted that “it is quite clear and obvious; if you have a Jamaica Labour Party Member of Parliament it means he will be able to serve you far better than a PNP Member of Parliament.”

The by-election for St. Mary South Eastern is being contested by the JLP’s Dr. Norman Dunn and Dr. Shane Alexis of the PNP.
