Jamaica Gleaner / The night was cool, the air crisp, and two food aficionados were eagerly waiting for the palatable ‘pierring’ of a lifetime.
Restaurant Week Ambassador Matthew Robinson and his date, the lovely Amanda Mitchell, arrived at the enchanting Pier 1 in Montego Bay to experience a taste of this year’s upcoming Restaurant Week. The charismatic Robinson, the CEO of Jamaica Food Tours, could not wait to engage his taste buds with all things savoury and sweet.
After scintillating conversation overlooking calming seas against the backdrop of city lights, the two began their delectable evening with crab cakes with roasted pepper aioli and ‘firestick’ buffalo wings with blue cheese dip. Mitchell raved about the wings, noting that it was spicy, but not overpoweringly so, that he couldn’t finish it. While Robinson expressed that the crab cakes were full of flavour like the ones from Baltimore – home of crab cakes.
The gastronomic delights didn’t stop there. From Baltimore to Louisiana, Robinson savoured the Louisiana blackened salmon fillet with sorrel chutney served with mashed potatoes, while Mitchell dug right into succulent barbecued pork spare ribs on mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.
By dessert, Matthew was stuffed but he couldn’t resist the chocolate cake which awakened his sweet tooth with its decadence. And Mitchell declared you can’t go wrong with strawberry cheesecake.
So whether it’s for romance or a family outing, make it a palatable pierring experience at Pier 1 this Restaurant Week.
