RJR News / There’s now a 4-way tie atop this season’s Red Stripe Premier League after three rounds of games with former champions Portmore United ahead on goal difference. However, Portmore’s winning start to the season was halted on Sunday as they played out a 1-1- draw with former champions Tivoli Gardens at the Prison Oval.
Jermaine ‘Teddy’ Johnson’s 57th minute strike cancelled out Jermie Lynch’s opening goal for last season’s beaten finalist. Meanwhile, Craig Foster’s prolific goal scoring form to start the season continued as he netted twice for Reno in a 2-1 win over Humble Lion. Foster has now scored all four goals for Reno this season.
UWI SC scored their second straight victory, clipping Boys’ Town 2-1. Girvon Brown and Patrick Brown got the goals for UWI FC. In the late kickoffs, Cavalier surprised former champions Montego Bay United 2-1 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex while defending champions Arnett Gardens were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Waterhouse.
Arnett Gardens ended the game with 10 players after Jamar Martin was sent off in the 58 th minute for two bookable offences.
Portmore United, UWI FC, Arnett Gardens and Reno are all locked on 7 points each, followed by Harbour View on 4 with Waterhouse , Boys’ Town, Humble Lion and Cavalier all on 3 points, Montego Bay United and Tivoli one point each and Sandals South Coast at the bottom without a point. Harbour View will host Sandals South Coast in the Monday night fixture.
