The island’s number one ranked men’s tennis player Damion Johnson has been left upset over an incident which saw him being scratched from the General Accident Open Tennis Championship which ended on Monday. According to Johnson, he turned up for his second round match at 8:30 pm but was told that the match was postponed until 7:00 am the following day.
Johnson said upon reaching home, he was then called and told to report immediately for the match, a position to which he objected and was subsequently scratched by Tournament Director Llockett McGreggor.
Johnson said he contacted Tennis Jamaica president John Bailey who said he would call a meeting to discuss the matter. Meanwhile, when contacted, McGreggor told RJR Sports that he stood by his decision and that he would not comment further on the matter.
