Trinidad Express / HOMICIDE detectives yesterday returned to the scene of the crime where Couva mom Chandroutie Harrylal was found murdered on Monday.
Detectives have questioned and taken statements from several relatives who had last seen Harrylal alive.
Police believe that Harrylal was killed during a home invasion.
Harrylal, 52, of Cameron Street, Balmain, was stabbed in the back and neck multiple times, an autopsy found.
She was found with a cord around her neck, and her hands and feet bound with a plastic bag, police said.
Her bedroom had been ransacked.
Harrylal’s son, Adrian Harrylal, said he left his mother at home around 2 p.m. to do errands.
He returned less than three hours later and found a door ajar.
As he walked into the house, he saw several glass louvres from his mother’s bedroom on a couch in the living room.
He looked for his mother in her bedroom and found her on the floor.
Officers of the Couva CID and Homicide Region III responded.
