Jamaica Gleaner / A section of the popular ‘Ray Ray’ market in downtown Kingston was damaged by fire this morning.
The majority of the mostly wooden stalls that line the selling area and a storage area on Heywood Street have been destroyed by the flames.
Several vendors who arrived on the scene complained of losing goods in the fire which they say happens every year.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined but some vendors theorise that it was deliberately set.
One distraught vendor, who identified herself as Paulette, appealed to the prime minister and mayor of Kingston for help.
