Trinidad Express / POLICE have charged a man with the 2013 murder of two-year-old Kimora Roopnarine.

The accused is 25-year-old of Enterprise, Chaguanas, who is already in custody charged with slitting the throat of a woman in Chaguanas in May 2016.

Constable Lewis of the Homicide Division’s Cold Case Unit pursued the investigation and laid the charge.

The accused is expected to go to the Chaguanas Magistrates Court on Monday.

According to the child’s grandmother Erica Thomas, on September 16, 2013, little Kimora was picked up from pre-school by her step-father, who took her to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, and reported that she was having difficulty breathing.

The child was pronounced dead on arrival.

An autopsy found that Kimora suffered broken ribs and died of blunt force trauma.

Thomas said:“Nothing could ever bring back my…granddaughter, this I know. I love them and will always love them. They are a part of me. Now that he has been charged for my granddaughter’s murder, I feel like justice has been served”.
