Trinidad Express / THE man who fell into a Matura river during a lime knocked unconscious, has died.

And the entire incident – from his last moments quarrelling with someone to people attempting life-saving techniques on – was recorded and uploaded on social media.

Someone not only captured the demise of James Lawrence, 57, but kept the camera “rolling” and zoomed in on him as people took turns to revive him.

The person recording the incident “assisted”  by shouting to someone to rescue Lawrence as he floated down the river after falling off the bank.

For almost five minutes, viewers can see people taking turns trying to help Lawrence.

And only ends the video when questions are being raised if the man died.

The incident occurred on Sunday at around 4.30 p.m. at Trini River Lime at Orosco Road.

The video begins with James standing on the river bank among a group of limers, with music blasting nearby.

James and a woman argue before he jumped into the river.

A police report stated that Lawrence hit his head on a tyre filled with sand on the river bank, fell into the river and submerged.

He was dragged onto a rock where a woman attempted to perform Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The video ended with voices calling for an ambulance and the woman with whom he was quarrelling earlier falls into the river.

Lawrence was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital by an Emergency Health Services Ambulance.

He was pronounced dead by doctors at 5.40 p.m.

An autopsy found that he suffered blunt craniocerebral trauma but died by drowning.

Lawrence lived at ¾ mile mark Valencia Old Road, Valencia.
