The trinidad Guardian / Jean-Maurice Young was the standout competitor for team T&T, after he struck taekwondo gold in the men’s junior division -55kg weight division at the Commonwealth Championship Games in Montreal Canada last month. T&T senior and junior teams captured six medals.

Joining Young at the podium for the junior competitor’s were Brandon Joseph and Odysseus Petropoulos, who captured silver and bronze medals, respectfully in the -63kg weight division.T&T’s senior team also

shared in the celebrations as Dorian Alexander and Isiah Pollard captured bronze medals each for the male contingent in the -68kg and -80kg weight divisions, respectfully.

Megan Lawrence got the lone medal for the females as she captured a bronze medal in the senior division +73kg weight division.

Following team T&T’s successes, the taekwondo contenders will begin preparations for next year’s Central American and Caribbean Games, which will take place from July 19 to August 3 in Colombia.
