A NATIONAL ICON is upset at the state of the football stadium that bears his name, the Minister of Sport is promising repairs will be done and the Secretary for Sports in Tobago wants the House of Assembly to be given control of the facility.
Former Trinidad and Tobago football captain Dwight Yorke pushed the 16-year-old stadium at Bacolet back into the public spotlight yesterday with statements critical of the state of disrepair at the facility.
Yorke, currently in Thailand as a FIFA Legend accompanying FIFA President Gianni Infantino for the opening of the FA Thailand High Performance Training Centre, was angered by what he saw as an inadequate response by Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Secretary for Sport Jomo Pitt when questioned about the state of repairs at the Dwight Yorke Stadium by THA Minority Leader Watson Duke.
