RJR News / Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes’ bay colt Patriarch failed in his bid to make a clean sweep of the Supreme Ventures 2 Year Old Series after suffering a major upset in Tuesday’s final leg at Caymanas Park and also lost his unbeaten tag.

Patriarch who was made the huge 2-5 favourite, was said to be less than 100 % fit and could only manage fifth as the 2-1 chance Marquesas under Shane Ellis landed the 106th running of the $4 million Jamaica 2 Year Old Stakes over a mile.

Marquesas who won by three lengths, provided the 2-time former champion jockey Ellis with his third victory in this event and four winners on the 12-race programme while trainer Michael Marlowe celebrated the biggest victory of his career so far.

Meanwhile, another trainer Patrick ‘Wacky’ Lynch was also in the spotlight, saddling a career-best five winners on the card.
