Jamaica Gleaner / Tivoli Gardens utility player AndrÈ Moulton said that he is settled and better able to cope with the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) after scoring the all-important goal in his team’s 1-0 result against Sandals South Coast FC yesterday at the Edward Seaga Complex in West Kingston.
Moulton received a beautiful through pass from veteran midfielder Sean Coleman and the former beat Sandals South Coast goalkeeper O’Brian Vennor in the 22nd minute.
However, in the second half, Tivoli’s coach Omar Edwards deployed Moulton to the right back position after central defender Kenroy Lumthen was injured and replaced.
Moulton, who scored his third goal in his first season at Tivoli, said he is ready to play any role for his new club.
“I am happy with the performance today. I scored in the first half, then the coach decided to put me in the wing back position. I am a team player, so the job is to help the team,” Moulton told The Gleaner at the game’s end.
“This is not my first season in the league, as I played at Arnett, but did not get enough playing time. I am settled here and will continue working hard in training in order to improve,” the 25-year-old said.
“My aim is to score as many goals as possible and to do what is necessary for the team. We have some young players, so it is a work in progress,” he added.
Tivoli’s coach Edwards also said that Andre Moulton is a good talent.
“He is a disciplined player who works hard in training. I am not surprised that Andre scored because he worked hard and scored five times during the week leading up to the game,” Edwards said about Moulton.
Meanwhile, coach of Sandals South Coast, Aaron Lawrence, said his team again failed to capitalise on clear goalscoring opportunities.
“We are playing some good football, but continue to miss chances. We have to be clinical in front of goal,” said Lawrence after his team’s eighth loss in their debut season.
Tivoli moved on to 22 points, while Sandals remained in 11th position on just seven points from 13 games.
