Jamaica Gleaner / WESTERN BUREAU:
Rajesh and Neha Kripalana and partners Vijay and Payal Sandarangani officially relaunched their refurbished restaurant and bar Mantra, on the high level (Queen’s Drive) road in the tourism capital, on Monday night.
The property, formerly known as Sky Bar and Grill, offers the most spectacular view of the Hip Strip (Gloucester Avenue), as well as full view of aircraft landing on the tarmac of the Sangster International Airport.
The Indo-Jamaican-Chinese eatery was taken over by Sandarangani three years ago, but only recently have the Kripalanis invested in the business.
At an elevation of 400 feet above sea level, the new partners have already invested millions in the construction of a roof, bar, flooring and lighting of the facility.
“Half of the people who come here, particularly, locals, see us from the Hip Strip and are drawn to us by our lights,” Sandarangani told Today.
He said with the colours changing continuously throughout the night, it is an attraction in itself.
Today brings you highlights of the opening, which had in attendance Mayor of Montego Bay Homer Davis; Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett; T’shura Gibbs, president of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and several well-wishers from the business community.
