Jamaica Observer / The Bacchanal Jamaica season will begin with a bang as coming to the Mas Camp tomorrow, are the Miami Dream Team DJs and King Taj. They will be primed from the Trinidad experience to spin all the latest soca hits for Bacchanal Jamaica revellers. This will be the second time on the Mas Camp stage for DJs Sinistar (Avimash Ramkissoon) and Steelie Back (Sheldon Walcott), who are from Trinidad but have been based in Florida for nearly five years. In 2017, the duo captured the hearts of the Jamaican audience as they not only doled out huge servings of soca but skilfully mixed in some reggae favourites.
The versatile King Taj, a favourite of Jamaican bacchanalians, who rocked the crowd at the recent Soc’n Wet Fete declared: “I am coming fresh and soca loaded from Trinidad, so all my vibes that you have been seeing on social media – I’m bringing it with me to mash up Bacchanal opening night!”
“We are really hyped and excited as we kick off the 2018 carnival season. It was a real coup to get the Dream Team and DJ Taj directly from Trinidad and we expect them to set the tone for the rest of the period. Also upping the ante for 2018 is our long-time print media partner the Jamaica Observer who continue to support and promote our efforts,” said Michael Ammar Jr.
Ammar Jr was also proud to announce the new sponsor on the block — Grace Foods and Services. Ricardo Smith, channel programme and promotions manager from Grace Foods, was equally excited about the potential of the new partnership.
“As a part of our 2018 Flava with a Beat Campaign which encapsulates the unique flair of our people and culture, we thought it was only fit that we become a part of the colourful, vibrant culture of Jamaica’s Carnival. As one of the more established brands in the business, Bacchanal Jamaica is a well-suited partner to do this given its reputation of staging quality events. As the ‘Good Food’ people, we want to bring our own flavour to the Socacise events, by introducing our newer line of products that fit in with the modern consumer’s needs. Led by Grace Aloe and Grace Tuna, patrons will enjoy nutritious food and beverages prepared in convenient ways for people on the move.”
