RJR News / A Detective Constable attached to the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) is in custody facing a charge of murder.
He was arrested on Sunday by investigators attached to INDECOM (Independent Commission of Investigations) and the Major Investigation Division following the fatal shooting of 29 year old Rishawn Oliver.
It’s reported that, shortly after 10 o’clock Saturday night, Mr Oliver was walking along a road in Point Hill, St. Catherine when he was attacked and shot.
He was pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital.
Fourteen spent shells and two warheads were found at the scene.
Eyewitness reports and statements led investigators to the policeman as the prime suspect.
He was arrested at the Spanish Town CIB.
His weapon has been seized and a forensic examination is being carried out.
