Trinidad Express / The relatives of missing fishermen Edmund Charles and Kel Hagley are still hoping that they would be found alive. Eight days have passed since the men went down with their fishing pirogue following a boating accident off Los Iros, Erin. The incident resulted in the death of fishermen Sheldon Guerra, 35, and injured five others. Hagley, 25, Charles, 40, and 33-year-old Edward Williams were thrown overboard. Three days later a decomposed corpse was sighted by fishermen off Cedros. He was later identified as Williams, a father of three. Hagley’s sister, Kendice Hagley, said her family spent the Carnival weekend searching for her brother. “I am not sure if the Coast Guard is searching because they are not in contact with my family. The fishermen have also stopped the search. We are still hoping to find them both alive. But it is not eight days and we don’t know what to do again,” she said. The men had stopped their fishing boat to retrieve a net when another pirogue broadsided them. The pirogues overturned with the men inside. Police said the five injured men were treated at the Siparia health facility. One of the men, Joel Seerattan, was transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital in serious condition. Seerattan, 35, suffered a broken hip and other injuries.
