Jamaica Observer / In a commitment to positively impact the lives of Jamaican athletes through healthy eating and sports, JP St Mary’s has signed on as the official healthy snack partner of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF). This partnership with the JFF, in the value of close to half a million dollars, will provide junior and senior players in the federation with access to JP St Mary’s products for training and matches.
JP St Mary’s is no stranger to the JFF, having sponsored the federation previously, and both parties are excited to resume the partnership.
“I must express my absolute delight to have JP St Mary’s back on board, as they once were, as sponsors. The entire board of directors, technical staff and teams are absolutely delighted and looking forward to a great and ongoing relationship with JP St Mary’s. The JFF has an overall responsibility to organise all football events in every nook and cranny of Jamaica and we take this responsibility seriously. We want to ensure that we have a product that is marketable so that people in Jamaica will gravitate towards football, and JP St Mary’s will be playing an integral role in this process,” stated Michael Ricketts, president of the JFF.
Last Friday JP St Mary’s visited the office of the JFF to officially present the cheque of sponsorship and the first batch of fresh fruits and snacks. Neleta White, national sales manager at JP St Mary’s, expressed the delight of the JP St Mary’s family to be supporting an organisation that contributes pivotally to the society.
“At JP St Mary’s we will always be in support of the community and national activities that positively impact our society and the region. Football is very special to us as a country as it unites us and teaches our athletes discipline. JP St Mary’s is committed to fuelling our nation’s athletes and champions with the right nutrients for a healthy and happy life. Our tropical fruits and snacks are fresh from the farm and they also taste great!” noted White.
General secretary of the JFF, Dalton Wint agreed with the importance of this partnership for Jamaican athletes in the federation. “It is an excellent partnership — a corporate company coming on board to give nutritional and financial support to this organisation. This is vital because we have a cadre of youth involved in the federation that we take care of. Football has many benefits to our Jamaican society. One such benefit is having our youngsters actively engaged in the sport which is a deterrent to getting themselves involved in untoward activities. Football also assists with the reduction of crime in our country. It also is an opportunity to earn as football contributes to the GDP in our country, and if we continue to support it, as JP St Mary’s is doing, it will continue to grow and benefit our society.”
The partnership will span a period of one year in which JP St Mary’s will provide a cash sponsorship and healthy snack options from the entire portfolio of the JP St Mary’s brand, namely, ripe bananas, green bananas, pineapples and its line of tropical snacks.
