Jamaica Observer / WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Members of the Narcotics Division on Tuesday seized a grey 30-feet vessel fitted with two Yamaha 250 HP engines with the serial numbers erased in Belmont district, Westmoreland. The vessel is believed to be connected with the seizure of 1000 pounds of ganja earlier in February.
Reports are that about 9:00 am, the police conducted a special operation in which the vessel was found at a premises in the area.
It is believed to have been used by four Costa Ricans along with seven other persons that were held in Sweet River, Westmoreland during the seizure of the drug on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
The Costa Ricans have since been charged with illegal entry and several breaches of the dangerous drugs act along with seven other individuals. They are scheduled to reappear in the Westmoreland Parish Court on March 13.
The Narcotics Police are now appealing to anyone who may have information regarding this boat to contact them at 923 5729, 119, 311 or the nearest police station.
