Trinidad Express / Although I was not surprised by the news reports last week that the Prime Minister had dissolved the Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), I could not help feeling a sense of sadness. For me, the dissolution of the board represents the final extinguishment of the one and only element introduced by this Keith Rowley administration which pointed towards a new type of politics and a new vision of what our society could be.

The dissolution of the board was not a surprise since it had been in virtual stasis ever since the resignation of the chairman, Dr Terrence Farrell, in January this year. And when, just two weeks ago, two other members of the board, David Abdulah and Dr Ronald Ramkissoon resigned, it became quite evident that the board was no longer functional and something would have to be done.
