Jamaica Observer / THERE’S a lot of buzz surrounding singer Khalia’s hot new single Summer Body. The song, produced by Tony “CD” Kelly, was performed at the grand coronation show for the Miss Universe Jamaica East pageant at Eden Gardens Wellness Resort and Spa in St Andrew, recently.

Khalia shared the inspiration behind the track.

“The song was inspired by a common situation of a guy taking advantage of a girl or hurting a girl, and instead of her being angry and wanting revenge she decides to get on with her life and become the best version of her, hence hitting him with the Summer Body ,” she told the Jamaica Observer .

According to Khalia, the reception to the song has been overwhelming.

“Many persons love it! They hear it once and then can’t stop listening. They love the message of the video also. Women have been messaging me saying it increases their confidence, which I’m happy about,” she said.

“I’m very proud of that because of all the hard work behind the song. Being placed by Apple Music themselves in playlists with artistes like Drake and Beyonc is an amazing feeling,” she continued.

Aside from Summer Body Khalia is also promoting One Dance, which features I-Octane.

Born in Westmoreland, Khalia attended the Mount Hermon Basic School before migrating to England. She made the decision to relocate to Jamaica to jump-start her music career.

Her other songs include Ride Up, Let Me Be Me, and Leave Me Alone.
