$80,000 bail for cop charged with assaulting media worker

Trinidad Express / A police corporal is expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today, charged with September 15 assault occasioning actual bodily harm, against Trinidad Guardian photographer Kristian De Silva.

Corporal Billy Ramsundar 47, was also charged with malicious damage of a Canon camera, valued at US$1600, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard.

The accused appeared before a Justice of the Peace on Wednesday where he was granted $80,000 bail. The matter is expected to be transferred to the Siparia Magistrates’ Court, after being heard in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court.  

Ramsundar was charged by Superintendent Ruthven Hunte, of the Police Complaints Division.
