Another big tourney at Racquet Centre*

Trinidad Express / TRINIDAD and Tobago will host a regional junior tennis tournament for the second time in a month at the National Racquet Centre, Orange Grove Main Road, Tacarigua. After the Under-18 division of the most prestigious tournament in the Central American and Caribbean (COTTEC) region took place at the same time last month, the ITF (International Tennis Federation)/COTTEC Sub-Region Four 12 and Under Development Championship will be contested here this week. Players from nine countries – Antigua, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Curacao, Grenada, Guyana, St Lucia, Suriname and T&T – will be competing on a daily basis from tomorrow until Saturday. Each fixture will consist of three matches, with doubles bringing up the rear after clashes between the No. 2 and No.1 players, respectively. Each country will be represented by one male and one female team but as hosts, T&T will compete with two of each. Nicholas Ready, who captured the Under-12 title in the Catch National Junior Championships, Lease Operator Limited Junior Tournament and the just-concluded Sagicor Junior Tournament, will lead the boys’ A side.
