‘Aunty Louise’ marks 104*

Trinidad Express / Former senator Louise Horne cut a regal picture as she celebrated her 104th birthday at the St Peter’s Home, Mount St Benedict, Tunapuna, on Monday. Horne served as an independent senator for 15 years. Appointed by president Ellis Clarke in 1976, she served up till 1991 when she officially retired. Among the celebrants at her milestone birthday were St Peter’s administrator Charlotte Julien, caregiver/actress Elizabeth Julien and Arima Mayor Lisa Morris-Julian. The guests were joined by Tunapuna Member of Parliament Esmond Forde, Arima activist Andre Belix, godson Dr Lennox Pierre and his wife, Kathleen, and fellow St Peter’s residents. During the formalities, Forde suggested Morris-Julian and Arima MP Anthony Garcia should lobby for a wing of the new Arima hospital to be named in Horne’s honour.
