‘Bespoke’ heads to President’s Cup *

Trinidad Express / CONQUEST BESPOKE, one of the leading contenders for the President’s Cup at Santa Rosa Park looked in fine fettle ahead of his intended clash with Transpire on August 1.

The Harriram “Pepsi” Gobin-trained gelding owned by Shivam Maharaj finished second in last year’s Gold Cup to Thisonesforron, and based on that run he has a solid chance to lift this race.

On Sunday, Gobin sharpened the five-year-old gelding with stablemate Onefortheroad, and he was the stronger of the pair in recording a bullet 1:01.03 with Onefortheroad several lengths adrift.

Winner of this last race over 1,350 metres, Conquest Bespoke, who has a rating of 95, is expected carry the top weight of 57 kilos in the 1,900-metre President’s Cup, as most of the higher rated horses such as Bigman In Town and Teniente Coronel did not come out of the Santa Rosa Dash in good shape.
