Control Unit, Whisper Light clash again

The trinidad Guardian / The Glenn Mendez trained pair of Stewards Cup winner Control Unit and Whisper Light will clash on Saturday in the feature Handicap for three year olds and over horses rated 70 and Over.

The 1,100 metres event carries a purse of $51,000 and will see five horses facing the starter at Santa Rosa Park, Arima.

Control Unit, which will be ridden by Wilmer Galviz, will take along top-weight of 60 kilos while stable-mate Whisper Light has been allotted 54 kilos and will have the assistance of Ricky Jadoo.

Champion trainer John O’Brien has two entrants in the event in the consistent Desert Dancer and Takeoneforjoey.

The former carries a pennystamp of 46 kilos while Takeonefor joey will be apprentice ridden with L C Seecharan astride. With his allowance, he will race with 47 kilos which will make him a difficult horse to beat.

When entries were taken yesterday a total of 99 horses took entry for the Arima Race Club’s Day 15, nine-race presentation.
