Cops nabbed carrying $2m ganja in patrol SUV

The trinidad Guardian / Two police officers were last night assisting their colleagues in investigations, after they were held transporting an estimated $2 million in marijuana, three illegal firearms and several bottles of alcohol in a marked police vehicle in Cedros on Tuesday.

According to a police report, at about 4.30 pm a party of police from the Oropouche station, including Sgts Ali and George Sgts Ali and George, intercepted the police vehicle – a Nissan Xtrail – in the area after receiving a tip-off.

The vehicle was searched and four crocus bags containing the compressed marijuana, three pistols and a quantity of 9mm ammunition and 11 bottles of Anis alcohol were seized. The officers and another man in the vehicle were arrested and taken to the Oropouche Police Station.

Later that night the officers were handed over to officers of the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (OCNFB) for questioning. It is said the officers were coming from the Cedros area and making their way north.
