D/Force, Ma Pau to square off in First Citizens Cup final *

Trinidad Express / Defence Force and Ma Pau Stars have won the right to contest for the $110,000 first prize in Friday’s 2016 First Citizens Cup final.

Defence Force, First Citizens Cup champions of 2002 and 2009, and Ma Pau Stars were each $7,000 richer as Sunday’s semi-final round winners, due to the new cash bonus system.

Sponsors First Citizens have offered cash bonuses for each win throughout the tournament.

Winners of the semi-final, quarter-final and playoff rounds earn $7,000, $5,000 and $3,000, respectively. But the real bounty comes in Friday’s final when the champions receive $110,000, while $20,000 goes to the runners-up.

The Defence Force emerged from Sunday’s semi-final double-header at Ato Boldon Stadium with a 3-0 win over Courts Morvant-Caledonia United, thanks to a comprehensive hat-trick by striker Devorn Jorsling.
