Ganja in the baby clothes

Trinidad Express / A quantity of marijuana was discovered concealed among baby clothing and products in a shipping container in Point Lisas on Monday. Packets of the illegal drugs were wrapped in the clothing and hidden among the packaging of the other items, police said.

The suspect is a man who came with false documentation to clear the container. Around 3 p.m. the man to Plipdeco and produced the documents for the release of the items.

Customs and Excise officers instructed that the container be checked. Police said while it was being brought forward, the suspect left the compound.

The officers continued with the search of the container and allegedly found the marijuana. Officers of the Couva CID and Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau also responded.

Police are relying on closed circuit television footage to assist in identification of the suspect. Two weeks ago, US$2 million was found hidden in a stack of plywood in a shooping container on the Pt Lisas port. The currency is yet to be traced to its source.
