#glnrChamps: Calabar boys, St Elizabeth Technical girls dominate Class One 400m semis

Jamaica Gleaner / Calabar High School?s Christopher Taylor was in imperious form as he easily won the first semi-final of the Class One Boys 400m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys & Girls’ Athletic Championships.

After allowing Kingston College?s Dawshawn Morris to pass him on the back stretch, Taylor then eased away to a 46.98 second win in the fastest qualifying time ahead of Morris  47.33.

Taylor?s teammate Anthony Carpenter had the second fastest qualifying time as he bolted to victory in heat two in 47.03 seconds followed in the distance by Jamaica College?s Keeco Morrison 47.85 and Bridgeport?s Malik Smith 47.87.

The other qualifiers for the final were Andy Williams of St Jago (48.22); Chevannie Hanson of Edwin Allen (48.41); and Devitto Daley of Holmwood 47.99.

Meanwhile, last year?s runner up Stacey-Ann Williams and bronze medallist Santanya Wright were through to tomorrow?s finals of the Class One Girls 400m.

Williams of St Elizabeth Technical clocked 53.37 to advance as the fastest qualifier ahead of Roneisha McGregor of Hydel who won heat two in 53.68 seconds.

The other qualifiers were Osheena Kerr of Holmwood (54.72); Alesha Kelly of St Jago (55.31); Janiel Moore of Edwin Allen (55.33); Wright of St Elizabeth Technical (55.36), Moisha Barnes of Edwin Allen (55.43), and Kelly Ann Downer of St Andrew and 55.73.

The final is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. Saturday.
