JBBC Gen Sec Says ‘Axeman’ Plagued By Internal Camp Problems

RJR News / General Secretary of the Jamaica Boxing Board of Control (JBBC) Leroy Brown says problems in the camp of Nicholas ‘The Axeman’ Walters, may have contributed to his defeat to Vasyl Lomachenko in their WBO Super Featherweight title fight on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

Walters suffered the first defeat of his professional career, after opting not to continue with the fight after the 7th round, meaning he lost by technical knockout.

“Recently Nicholas has been pulling away from his core people and this has been part of the problem. These people know you and have your interest at heart,” said Brown.

Brown also says he also noticed Walters’ lack of confidence heading into the fight. “Even watching his corner, his corner was in shambles and the bottom-line is he was not prepared for Lomachenko,” said Brown.

Brown was speaking on Hitz 92 FM’s Sports Explosion on Monday morning.
