Kuttit sets loose on a new soca frontier*

Trinidad Express / Brooklyn-based soca act Kuttit is taking soca music to new frontiers. Real name Stephan Abraham, the Chaguanas-born writer, artiste and entrepreneur is among a new movement of musicians with Trinidadian roots and ties to unite with the purpose of taking the music of this land to new markets across North America. New York-based acts Mysta Lyon, Lyrikal, Ronnie Homer, Chai and Fya Empress also form part of a new wave of soca ambassadors in the US. “Every day soca music is reaching virgin ears here in the USA and that’s a testament of the non-stop promotion and hard work of several of the artistes based here in New York. For us there is no season for soca. We play, perform and promote soca music 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year,” said the passionate performer about the blooming soca scene in the Big Apple. Kuttit, who left Trinidad as a teenager, has already toured across the US performing in Miami, Hollywood, Washington DC, Baltimore and Atlanta. He plans to take his music to new destinations in 2017 with the release of his third studio album Respect My Vice.
