Lawyers sort out Rio Claro hiccup *

Trinidad Express / SOME 15 citizens who showed up to cast ballots in the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation were told they had to vote under the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation instead.

Lawyers were called in and the problem sorted out, with the voters casting their ballots in Rio Claro.

Hazarie Ramdeen, who was vying to be the United National Congress (UNC) councillor for Rio Claro North, said he called in lawyers to rectify the issue.

Ramdeen said: “The voting process went smoothly except for one thing. Some people who accustomed voting in the Mayaro/Rio Claro Regional Corporation were told they had to vote under a different corporation, which was the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation.
