Miss Jamaica World Cornwall on tomorrow

12

Jamaica Observer / MONTEGO BAY, St James — Despite this year’s small field, franchise holder of the Jamaica World Cornwall, Junior Taylor, is promising an exciting and competitive coronation show. The event will see 10 females from across the county of Cornwall compete for a spot in the Miss Jamaica World finals, as well as prizes, at Pier One in Montego Bay on tomorrow night.

“It’s our seventh year as franchise holder and each year we strive to make the show different. So this year we are featuring a very cosmopolitan fashion statement in keeping with the tourism …so even the evening wear will be touristy in its orientation. It will really be a great event,” Taylor told Jamaica Observer.

He explained that more girls would have entered the competition had it not been for the late start of the recruitment exercise, “as we had to wait for the launch of the national pageant with its new franchise holder.”

The national pageant was launched in Kingston on April 18 by the new franchise holder, Crown of Beauty Jamaica Limited, while Complete Entertainment Services, headed by Taylor, launched the county’s version of the pageant almost two weeks later.

Taylor noted that since taking over the franchise, several of the contestants have done very well, citing for example Kimberly Webb, who placed third in the Miss Jamaica World Pageant in 2014 and is now pursuing a medical degree.
