Motivated to Bring Joyous Peace*

Trinidad Express / OVER the years the Express Woman has been replete with stories of women and girls who have followed their dreams and made the impossible possible. Added to that growing list is Chanice Lawrence who has turned her talent and skill for manicures and pedicures into a side business. Lawrence uses natural homemade scrubs on her clients, using brown sugar, aloe vera, honey and saffron which she mixes and blends herself. Her love for spas was ignited when she was just 13. At a family gathering, her grandmother brought out a foot spa she had purchased and asked Lawrence to give her a pedicure. “I think the experience was more enjoyable for me than it was for her. That evening, everyone got a pedicure – uncles included!” says Lawrence. When she left school her mother encouraged her to do a cosmetology course, but thinking that it was better to choose a more traditional career, Lawrence opted to do nursing, thinking it would have been more worth her while. But things didn’t work out. In her late teens, Lawrence began doing pedicures and manicures via house calls and it dawned on her that this was her calling. She did a business entrepreneurial course and made the resolution to follow her heart and do what she loved.
