Vidale yesterday regarded as a disservice, the fact that the children of those who struggled against the socio-political injustices during the 1960s and 1970s were never taught to take up the mantle of their parents.

“A serious disservice was done to children of persons of the 70s holding up the situations their parents fought against,” he said, adding that many young people had become “benevolent” to the ruling class.

Vidale observed that in the face of the social realities plaguing the country, elders who had fought for the rights of others four decades ago, were again coming to the fore “because the environment seems familiar to them.”
