Point Fortin, unions turned off by Rowley *

Trinidad Express / Expect no early general election. Prime Minister Keith Rowley test-marketed himself and the election idea last week. “You know I am the Prime Minister of T&T,” he said. “And I am the only one who can call the elections.”

Should elections be called? he asked. From Point Fortin people attending his “Conversations” came a loud “No”.

In that borough, his survey question might have been received as a patronising probe. It could safely be assumed there was nothing to prove. Not since Selby Wilson’s historic 8,470 votes on the National Alliance for Reconstruction (NAR) ticket in 1986 had any Point Fortin candidate not bearing the blessed PNM banner won that seat.
