Political Ombudsman says talks with parties about complaints related to St Mary SE seat fruitful

Jamaica Gleaner / Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown is describing as fruitful Friday’s meeting with representatives of the two main political parties about ongoing complaints related to the hotly contested South Eastern St Mary by-election.

The Jamaica Labour Party’s Dr Norman Dunn and the People’s National Party’s Dr Shane Alexis are to square off in the October 30 election.

Both sides have complained about vandalism, abuses and misuse of funds, among other things.

While not going into details, Parchment Brown says the parties have agreed to work to address the issues.

She says a joint statement will be released to the public with a full account of the agreement.
