Pride Inch Towards First Innings Points Over Scorpions


RJR News / Visitors Barbados Pride closed in on the Jamaica Scorpions first innings total of 224, posting 153-4 on Sunday’s third day of their 3rd round Digicel WICB 4-day Pro League match at Sabina Park.  

The Pride now trail by 71 runs after what was another rain affected day with Kevon Stoute and Mario Rampersad who are both yet to score, the batsmen at the crease.

Earlier, Anthony Alleyne made 66 and Shamarh Brooks 44 against a wicket apiece from Nikita Miller, Derval Green, Damion Jacobs and debutant Fabian Allen. The Scorpions had earlier been dismissed for 224 after resuming at 157-8.

But after losing overnight batsman Reynard Leveridge for just 1, Miller and Green added 52 for the last wicket to frustrate the Barbados bowlers. Opener John Campbell top scored with 60.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force were 287-8 at stumps in their rain-affected contest  against  the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Roshon Primus was 42 not out for the Trinidadian franchise who had resumed 173-4. Kieran Powell has taken three wickets to fall so far.

And asked to follow on, hosts Windward Islands Volcanoes were 15-2 in their 2nd innings reply against the Guyana Jaguars in their day/night fixture at the Daren Sammy Stadium.

The Volcanoes who resumed on 142-8 in their first innings reply, were restricted to 198-8.
