Rain Forces Abandonment Of Windies Second ODI Against England

RJR News / Rain forced the abandonment of Thursday’s second One Day International between the West Indies and England at Trent Bridge. Only 2.2 overs were possible, with England who were sent to bat, reaching 21-0. The Windies had gone into the contest without birthday boy Chris Gayle who hurt his hamstring in warm-up. Gayle who turned 38 on Thursday, will undergo scans after which it is expected that the Windies management will give a further update. Kyle Hope had replaced the hard-hitting Jamaican in the Windies X1.

The Caribbean side had also left out spinner Devendra Bishoo for pace bowler Miguel Cummins while England who won the first match by 7 wickets, entered Thursday’s contest with an unchanged side. The third One Day International of the five match series will be contested on Sunday in Bristol.
