Rats relocate polling station


Trinidad Express / THE MONTROSE Vedic Primary School is no longer a polling station. The voters who would usually cast their ballots there have been advised to head to Presentation College, Chaguanas.

The primary school has been shut down as a result of a rat and mite infestation.

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC), said today that two other polling station were shifted in California/ Point Lisas electoral district. Polling station number 3190 has moved from Esperanza Presbyterian Primary to the Dow Village Government Primary School.

And polling station 3185 has been moved from the Esperanza Presbyterian Primary School to the Dow Village Government Primary School.


On Saturday, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said that the United National Congress received a letter from the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) notifying the party that the polling division in the Felicity/Endeavour electoral district was been relocated.

Persad-Bissessar said that the change with the polling station would upset the party’e lection machinery. 

Independent Liberal Party political leader Rekha Ramjit also criticised the EBC for the shift. Ramjit said she intended to write the EBC a letter addressing this issue.

The parents of Montrose Vedic has staged several protests seeking another location to house the pupils. The National Enrichment Centre in Carlsen Field was a proposed site to accommodate the pupils. However, this did not materialise.
